Give clients more ways to pay

Every payment method you skip is a client who pays a little later. Meet them where they already are.

People pay fastest with the method they already trust. If your invoice only offers one way, you are quietly asking some clients to change their habits before they can pay you. Remove that friction and the money arrives sooner.

The one-tap option earns its keep

A card or online pay link is the fastest path from "I owe you" to "paid." It works at midnight, on a phone, without anyone logging into a bank. Yes, card processing has a small fee, but getting paid in minutes instead of weeks is almost always worth it.

The best payment method is the one your client will actually use tonight, not the one that is cheapest for you on paper.

Add the passive methods too

Not everyone wants to tap a card, and that is fine. List the quieter options right on the invoice so nobody has to ask:

  • PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo for people who live in those apps
  • Bank transfer for larger or recurring amounts
  • Check, if that is still normal in your trade

Show the details clearly and let the client pick. Choice removes the excuse of "I wasn't sure how to send it."

Keep it clean, not cluttered

More options should not mean a messy invoice. List the tap-to-pay link first, then the passive methods underneath in a short, tidy block. One glance, every option, no confusion.

Add one payment method you do not currently offer before your next invoice goes out. The easiest client to get paid by is the one who did not have to think about how.
